Has there ever been a hip-hop album with the term “butterfly” in the title? We can’t think of one right off hand. And today, Kendrick Lamar has made hip-hop history (probably) by revealing the title to his upcoming album

The new Kendrick Lamar album is titled “To Pimp a Butterfly”. You can take that in and take a look at the album artwork above.

Lamar didn’t reveal much to Rolling Stone about the album title, but he did it “Will be taught in college courses someday.”

He goes on to describe the album as “honest, fearful and unapologetic”.

“You take a black kid out of Compton and put him in the limelight, and you find answers about yourself you never knew you were searching for,” “There’s some stuff in there, man. Itap a roller coaster. It builds.”

Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” is due out on March 23.
