Former Oakland Raiders’ coach Tom Flores gave the Raiders’ new head coach Jack Del Rio a vote of confidence on The Sports Show with Woody Paige, Les Shapiro and Denver Post columnist Benjamin Hochman.
Flores said that while he doesn’t know Del Rio well, Flores said he watched a young Del Rio throughout his high school and college careers and Oakland’s new coach has a history of success. While that didn’t translate to Del Rio’s tenure in Jacksonville –Del Rio went 68-71 in nine seasons despite earning the Jaguars their first playoff win in years — Flores remained confident that his hard-nosed attitude would help him as a coach.
“He’s a hard-nosed guy, he’s a hard-nosed player. I’m sure he’ll be a very hard-nosed coach,” Flores said. I’ve never worked with him so it’s hard for me to analyze him on the field.”
