Nine points for a touchdown? Is that crazy? The Indianapolis Colts don’t think so. The Colts proposed a bonus extra point try tacked onto a successful 2-pt conversion.

Here’s how it would play out. A team would score a touchdown and then go for two. If the team is successful then they would get a shot at a PAT from the 50-yard line.

Woody Paige was harsh in his criticism of the proposed rule change.

“You have to be on some kind of medication to propose something like that. Now it becomes an EA game,” Paige said. EA is a reference to Electronic Arts, the developer and publisher of the Madden football video game that releases annually.

Indianapolis’s bizzare rule change proposals came.

Some of the more notable proposals include a change which would allow both teams to possess the ball during overtime (courtesy of the Chicago Bears) and a proposal that would make all penalties subject to review. The latter rule change comes from the Detroit Lions, whom many believe lost a Wild Card playoff game against Dallas due to an incorrectly overturned defensive pass interference call.

Shapiro believes the change is opening Pandora’s box.
