Denver police are investigating a death in the city’s northeastern Gateway neighborhood, after a body was found in a pond.

Firefighters pulled the body from a small pond near the intersection of Kittredge Street and East Bolling Drive on Saturday afternoon, a Denver police spokeswoman said. The intersection is about a mile from the Pena Boulevard and Interstate 70 interchange, south of Denver International Airport. There is a large apartment complex nearby, according to images on Google Street View.

Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said investigators are still trying to determine the cause of death and how long the body had been in the water. She said it was too early to tell if the death was related to a crime.
