Authorities in Pueblo County have arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing of a man in his head Sunday night who was found “bleeding severely.”

Fabian Rodriguez, 30, is being held on suspicion of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, menacing and first-degree attempted murder, according to the county sheriff’s office.

The 24-year-old victim, whose identity authorities have not released, is expected to survive, the office said.

The stabbing was reported at about 5:45 p.m. on the 1000 block of 21st Lane after the victim called 911 to say he had been stabbed in the head.

Colorado State Patrol troopers in the area arrived on the scene first and found the victim, who was later taken to a hospital.

The sheriff’s office said Rodriguez was still on scene when authorities responded to the stabbing and he was taken into custody.

Rodriguez is being held at the Pueblo County jail, officials say.
