
AURORA — Police in Aurora are investigating a shooting Wednesday morning that left a 33-year-old man dead, saying the suspect and victim knew each other.
Investigators said they believe an altercation precipitated the shooting, but they did not elaborate on the fight or how the people involved knew each other.
The shooting happened at about 2:15 a.m. on the 18000 block of East Mercer Drive, according to . The victim was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds where he was pronounced dead.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Clifford Eugene Wilson Junior. The office said he died from multiple gunshot wounds and his manner of his death was homicide.
“The identity of the suspect is still under investigation at this time,” police said.
The scene was draped off in police caution tape early Wednesday, and investigators were heading in and out of the beige, two-story home.
Neighbors told The Denver Post they did not hear anything overnight, but were awakened by police at about 3 a.m. One neighbor said a man named Cliff lived with his parents in the home where the shooting happened.
