A Colorado Springs motorcyclist sustained a serious head injury after colliding Wednesday morning with a deer, police said.

The collision happened south of Stetson Hills Boulevard on Powers Boulevard at about 6 a.m., according to police.

“The motorcyclist was southbound on Powers and encountered the deer at the top of the hill south of Stetson Hills before Barnes,” police said.

The driver, a man, was taken to Memorial Central Hospital. He had been wearing a helmet, police said.

“The deer was injured and had to be put down on scene by responding officers,” police said.

Authorities say no other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
