A passenger was ejected and killed in a crash involving an RTD bus on I-225 in Aurora Friday morning.
At about 4:45 a.m. police responded to a rollover at I-225 and East 6th Avenue in which the passenger was thrown from an Oldsmobile Bravada.
The passenger and driver were taken to a local hospital. The passenger died and the driver has injuries that are not life threatening, police said in a media release.
The Oldsmobile SUV was heading southbound when the driver lost control on an icy roadway, police said. Neither the passenger or driver were wearing seat belts.
As the SUV veered out of control it hit an RTD bus. No passengers were on the bus at the time and the bus driver was not injured.
Southbound I-225 was closed until just before noon.
Names of the pair in the SUV were not released.
The northbound lanes of I-225 were closed at Colfax Avenue for a time Friday morning after a crash.
Police said crashes also occurred on northbound I-225 at East Smith Road, East Illiff Avenue and South Parker Road.
