At last, the headlines will move off the supermarket tabloids and onto primetime: Diane Sawyer has nabbed the exclusive Bruce Jenner TV interview, to air April 24 on ABC.

Jenner’s “far-ranging, exclusive interview” stretched over a two-hour special under the “20/20” banner will mark the first exploration of the 1976 Olympian’s transition by a major news outlet.

The interview was taped back in February, before Jenner was involved in a multi-vehicle car accident in California.

The May sweeps period, when ratings are measured to set future advertising rates, begin on April 23.

Industry reports note the Sawyer “get” is an embarrassment for NBC, which was home to Jenner’s Kardashian reality exploits as well as holder of the Olympics rights.

Jenner’s changing appearance has been tracked by the tabloids in recent months. Reports have suggested Jenner’s transition would be the subject of a “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” spinoff.
