Getting your player ready...

Coach K and Duke won their fifth title Monday night but it came at the expense of the Wisconsin Badgers who may have reason to complain.

Late in the game, referees reviewed an out-of-bounds call that was ruled in Duke’s favor. Broadcast cameras clearly showed the ball last touching the finger of Duke’s Justise Winslow, meaning the Badgers should have received possession. However, the referees did not overturn the call.

The NCAA’s supervisor of officials John Adams told Sirius XM radio that the referees “never saw on their monitor what everybody saw at home.” However, Adams said that he did see the broadcast angle after the officials left the monitor and were returning to the game. He said he thought about whether he should get the officials to review the play again, but decided against it given there was no precedent for him to do so.

The Sports Show’s Woody Paige was shocked that Adams chose to remain silent.

“The purpose is to get it right,” he said. “I’m a bit surprised that angle wasn’t included in the original array. I’m here to announce though and I say it all the time, college basketball officiating is the worst of all the sports.”
