Through May 2 Denver’s biannual Month of Photography defines “month” on its own terms, with shows starting this year in February and running into May. No one’s complaining — there are more than 100 events in the mix, so that leaves plenty of time to catch the best ones. “Unconscious Metaphors,” at the commercial gallery Walker Fine Art, lingers for three more weeks and features artists whose work takes on a surrealist edge. “Ghostly forms, abstract shapes and interesting use of light/shadows” float through the photos of Anne Arden McDonald, Bonny Lhotka, Zelda Zinn and Susan kae Grant, as the gallery puts it, inviting viewers to draw their own subconscious interpretations of images. Through May 2, Walker Fine Art, 300 W. 11th Ave. Free. 303-55-8955 or .
