A Brighton man was convicted Friday of first-degree murder in the 2012 death of his former girlfriend.
Seth Wilkinson, 24, was found guilty of killing Antida Archuleta at her workplace at the Savannah Suites Hotel in Westminster. He shot the 20-year-old in the arm and three times in the head, according to a news release by Colorado’s 17th Judicial District attorney’s office.
The Adams County District Court jury rejected Wilkinson’s insanity claim. District Attorney Dave Young told the jury that Wilkinson “acted with deliberation and intent when he took this young woman’s life.” Sentencing is scheduled for May 22.
Archuleta was found with Wilkinson standing over her bleeding from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chin. Police found a suicide note in his bedroom.
