Re: “South Carolina police officer charged, fired amid anger over shooting video,” April 9 news story.

It seems as though if you are any other color then white, you have a bull’s-eye target on your back. Being pulled over for a busted taillight gets you the death penalty without having to go to court to prove your innocence. Selling unlicensed cigarettes in New York — skip court and get the death penalty. What in the world is going on with those sworn to serve and protect us? We need to demand better ways to vet and train those whose job it is to protect us. How many more need to die before things get better and we are not afraid of the police? Elected officials of our communities need to demand changes to safeguard our citizens. These killings must stop now.
