Denver is holding elections on May 5 for mayor, City Council, auditor and clerk and recorder. (Thinkstock)

Thank you for your recent coverage of the issues facing the diverse Denver City Council districts. One of the recurring themes is the need to manage our city s rapid growth and development to ensure that no neighborhoods are left behind, and that we preserve pedestrian infrastructure and parkland. Low-income neighborhoods in Denver are less likely to have places for outdoor recreation and safe sidewalks for pedestrians to walk on, which makes living a healthy, active lifestyle much more difficult. We hope that all Denver City Council candidates pledge to address these disparities if elected. That s why we created HealthierDenver.org, a website featuring municipal candidate responses to questions on public health issues ranging from sidewalk repair to bike lanes to access to affordable, nutritious food. These questionnaires can help voters make the most informative choice in the upcoming elections.
