A train carrying dry ammonia derailed in Colorado Springs Sunday night causing some road closures, police said.

The Colorado Springs Police Department tweeted that the derailment occurred near 900 South Sierra Madre Street.

Police said there are multiple train cars on their sides.

Sierra Madre Street, Baltic Street and Conejos Street are closed, police said.

Nearby residents have been asked to stay inside their homes.
