Theater: A show that stands up to bullying
April 24 All this week, members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles will be in town to work with kids in Denver schools to heighten awareness of bullying. The plan is to hold workshops and community dialogues and apply everything learned to a public performance at the end of the week. The show, “It Gets Better,” at the Newman Center, is part of a successful campaign that has helped countless kids build their self-esteem. The theatrical part of the event was developed by Speak Theater Arts, a performance company whose motto is — and you gotta love it — “Don’t be boring.” Expect it to be bold, direct, youthful, musical and definitely not boring. 7:30 p.m. April 24, Newman Center for the Performing Arts, 2344 E. Iliff Ave. $10. 303-871-7720 or . Ray Mark Rinaldi
