The University of Denver hockey team has put together one of its toughest, if not the most attractive, schedules in program history for 2015-16.

In addition to its 24 games in the rugged National Collegiate Hockey Conference, the Pioneers have two-game, non-conference series against Air Force (home-and-home), versus Michigan State, at Wisconsin and against Notre Dame, plus a New England weekend visit for single games against Boston College and Boston University.

DU’s NCHC slate includes four games against 2015 Frozen Four participates North Dakota and Nebraska-Omaha, along with perennial power Minnesota-Duluth and the traditional two Gold Pan weekends against Colorado College.

Denver finished 24-14-2 this season, losing to eventual NCAA champion Providence in the East Regional championship game.

“We believe this is a very good schedule — both for our team and for our fans,” DU coach Jim Montgomery said in a release. “We travel to some tough arenas early on — Wisconsin, Boston College and Boston University — which will be a good test for a young team working towards building strong chemistry. We’re also welcoming some strong non-conference opponents to Magness Arena this season in Notre Dame and Michigan State, two programs with a lot of history that college hockey fans don’t get to see too often in this part of the country.”
