Rep. Faith Winter

Sen. Jessie Ulibarri

Sen. Beth Martinez Humenik

Politics has become so Us vs. Them that the efforts of three Adams County lawmakers to hold joint town halls are truly refreshing.

On the third Saturday of the month, Sen. Beth Martinez Humenik, a Thornton Republican, Sen. Jessie Ulibarri, a Westminster Democrat who used to live in Commerce City, and Rep. Faith Winter, a Westminster Democrat, meet and greet with constituents.

“It makes sense since our districts overlap,” Humenik said. “This has given us the opportunity to get 50 to 55 people to our joint town hall meetings each month.”

A reminder: , which meant Ulibarri lost his chairmanship. That hasn’t seemed to matter.

“This is our third joint town hall. We’ve had a great reception,” Ulibarri said. “We’ve structured the meetings around a topic, and have invited local experts to present to the group. To date we’ve covered transportation, workforce development and healthcare.”

The meeting is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ciancio’s Restaurant at the Hyland Hills Golf Course, 9650 Sheridan Blvd., in Westminister.
