A common question heard from parents is: “How is dancing going to help my child succeed in the real world?”
After pulling from several studies, Arts Immersion discovered that students who consistently participated in the arts received positive effects far beyond improved academic achievement. Students who participated also improved in social and personal understanding, boosted in confidence and grew an overall positive outlook on education. The process of creating and being involved in creative disciplines not only produces work ethic and creative thinking skills, but also produces a deeper desire to learn. The following are some statistics we found to back up our claim. Students who took four years of arts coursework outperformed their peers by 58 points on the verbal portion and 38 points on the math portion of the SAT.” Students, who studied dance scored higher on measures of creative thinking. Those at risk of not successfully completing their high school educations cite their participation in the arts as reasons for staying in school. Students with intensive arts experiences in high school were three times more likely than students who lacked the same experiences to earn a bachelor’s degree. They also were more likely to earn “mostly A’s” in college. Arts Immersion provides this opportunity to give students a well-rounded, enriching education founded in the arts. Offering 3.5 hours of arts related training each day, coupled with quality academics, the program provides an exciting, enhanced education that helps students succeed in life.
