All the latest in green living will be be on display at Earth Day Denver, big party for the planet that happens in Civic Center Park on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you can’t make this event, you can still raise a toast to Mother Earth after work. Lots of local restaurants are celebrating the 45th anniversary of Earth Day with special cocktails.

There’s the Organic Grasshopper over at the Cherry Cricket (2641 E 2nd Avenue) with organic American Harvest Vodka, white cream de cocoa, hazelnut liquor, rumpleminze, green cream de menthe, half and half, and a mint leaf.

Argyll Whisky Beer (1035 E 17th Avenue) is crafting the Oh Be Joyful cocktail with locally-sourced Leopold ASB Gin, fresh lime juice, and earthy flavors of jalapeño and beet.

At (1610 Little Raven Street) there’s the Cin Nombre, an organic martini made with Dulce Vida Blanco, muddled cucumber, and green tea simple syrup in a glass rimmed with sugar, paprika, and cinnamon.

Award-winning mixologist Michael Cerretani is celebrating Earth Day at Boulder’s Blackbelly Market (1606 Conestoga #3 in Boulder) with The Iowan Smash, a concoction of Templeton Rye, fresh-squeezed lemon, and blackberries.

Tamayo (1400 Larimer Street) offers up its an organic tequila flight special for Earth Day. The flights allow guests to sample a blanco, reposado and anajo tasting for $24. Included in the flight are tequilas from Uno Dos Tres, Tequila Tierras and Dolce Vida – all organic.

And then there’s (1700 Humboldt Street) with the festive Garden Mule: the fresh root flavors of carrot juice and beet juice, combined with Pearl vodka and the fizz of ginger beer.

They’re even sharing the recipe.

Humboldtap Garden Mule


1.5 oz pearl vodka


2 oz carrot juice


.5 oz beet juice


.5 oz lime juice


2 oz ginger beer

Add all ingredients to a copper mug with ice and garnish with a lime.
