Re: “Colorado fetal homicide law goes too far,” April 20 guest commentary.
It is interesting and delightful to see two University of Colorado law professors using the same type of argument as “right-wing gun nuts” in their guest commentary about the fetal homicide bill in the legislature.
Aya Gruber and Jennifer Hendricks write: “They say hard cases make bad law. And it is often true that spectacularly horrific cases make spectacularly bad law.” When Second Amendment advocates use that argument, they are accused of making a specious argument that ignores the depth of the problem. And yet these two CU professors not only use that argument, they do so without recognizing the depth of the problem.
Apparently a “run-of-the-mill” assault with a vehicle that terminates a pregnancy is not worth consideration. Oops, looks like I have begun to steal the progressive argument against guns.
