Getting your player ready...

If you’re like me, you signed up for a free one month trial of nearly a month ago.

For about two weeks I gave Tidal a shot. I put aside my feelings for that Jay-Z and crew used to .

I went for the hi-fi premium service, a $25 price tag, but, hell, it’s free.

After a few weeks of using the service, I found that the hi-fi streaming, while it sounded nice, hardly justified the extra $15 a month. The hi-fi audio was slow to load. Waiting around for an album to load, or for songs to load in the middle of an album is not an ideal experience. I was sick of navigating the interface, with its unnecessary clicks to see what you’re hearing, those decoy play buttons and the depressing black and white design. I had read too many articles about how . I was sick of not being able to find local music. Plus, in the last month, it likely won’t be around much longer

Again, if you’re like me, you’ve switched back to your normal means of hearing music, and you’ve almost forgotten that you will automatically be charged for another month of Tidal after the first one is up.

I’m here to remind you to cancel it and how to cancel it. Because, like the everything else about Tidal, it’s not as easy as it should be.

First of all, you can’t do it through the app, so don’t, as I did, go to settings and frantically try clicking on subscription over and over thinking you’re trapped into paying $25 for the rest of your existence.

Instead, you have to go to tidal.com.

Go to the menu, and click on your account. You’ll be asked to login with your password (hopefully you remember) or whatever social media platform you used to sign up.

Then click on “Subscription,” followed by “Cancel My Subscription.”

Then you’ll be asked to fill out a two-part survey.

But here you can have a bit of fun, and really tell Tidal how you feel. Personally, I was too in a rush to relieve the financial burden of Tidal to give them detailed responses. I wish I had, though.

Once you’ve gone through the survey, you should see a confirmation screen.

You’ve done it. You’ve banished Tidal from your life forever…

Now you can go back to your iTunes, vinyl collection, Spotify, CDs, cassettes or whatever you normally use to hear music.
