Re: “Silent voice of the GOP speaks up after gay group’s summit snub,” April 21 news story.
How do you deal with an old friend who refuses to change with the times? This is the crux of the problem facing the GOP and the conservative Christian community. The “gay issue” used to be able to mobilize enough voters to win elections for the Republicans. This is no longer true.
The GOP is trying mightily to maneuver onto the right side of history and ditch its gay-bashing positions of the past. Given the current political calculus, there can be no doubt that they will do so.
Ultimately, what Christian conservatives need to recognize is that the Republicans have always seen their political marriage as one based not on principles but on convenience.

This letter was published in the April 23 edition. Can it really be that those Republicans remaining silent after last week’s attacks by national radical homosexual groups and their Colorado auxiliary, the so-called Log Cabin Republicans, on the Western Conservative Summit and its sponsor, the Colorado Christian University, are doing so because they now support the homosexual agenda? Or could it be that they are living in fear of losing their businesses or livelihoods at the hands of those radicals or the grossly misnamed Colorado Civil Rights Commission?
Where is the leader, civil or religious, who will explain to all that one cannot engage in, or support, a serious sin?
