Re: “Kansas is right to crack down on what welfare recipients can buy,” April 24 letter to the editor.
It bothers me when people who are employed to service welfare and food stamp recipients complain about the people they serve and how they spend their benefits. Having had been a public employee in the past, letter-writer Tom Smola himself was feeding from the public trough, but in his letter he comes across as high and mighty, putting himself above those he served. Since Smola had good reason to believe that some of his past clients had sufficient funds to not qualify for public assistance, I wonder if he took steps to make sure they were cut off from receiving benefits, or even further, prosecuted for perpetuating fraud.
