Regis Jesuit has hired Dan Filleman as the new head coach of the football team.

Filleman, who confirmed the news with The Denver Post on Friday, is one of Arizona’s . He has coached at Liberty High School in Peoria, Ariz., since 2008 — Liberty’s inaugural year of varsity football. He is one of the of a powerhouse football program in the second-highest high school classification in the state. Even though the Lions lost last year’s Division II state championship game to rival Centennial, Filleman finished his tenure at the school with a 66-19 mark.

He replaces Mark Nolan, who in March to coach the Notre Dame Prep football program in Scottsdale, Ariz.  Filleman for 16 years, and played college football and hockey at Northern Arizona University.

“He is going to shock the football scene up there,” former Liberty quarterback Keegan Whipkey (class of 2010) said of Filleman.  “His offense is almost impossible to stop.  You can only hope to slow it down.”
