The Laub Co., the Fort Collins-based owner of IBMC College, said Friday it will purchase IntelliTec Medical Institute in Colorado Springs for an undisclosed price.
Laub will rebrand IntelliTec Medical as IBMC College following regulatory and accrediting agency approvals, which should take about 30 to 45 days, said marketing manager Holli McElwee.
The 300 students currently attending the Colorado Spring campus, which has a focus on training medical and dental assistants, will be able to complete their current programs at existing tuition rates, McElwee said.
“We look forward to continuing to change the lives of students and provide the Colorado Springs community with trained, ready-to-work externs and graduates,” said IBMC College CEO Steve Steele in a statement.
IBMC College currently operates campuses in Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont and Cheyenne. With the acquisition, IBMC will have 128,164 square feet of campus space, more than 1,300 enrolled students and 350 employees.
The company said the acquisition creates the largest privately-owned, for-profit college group based in Colorado. The two schools offer similar programs, with a key difference being that IntelliTec Medical primarily provided certificates while IBMC College offers degrees and diplomas.
IntelliTec Medical got its start in 1966, while IBMC launched in 1987.
