Adan Avila shows his prosthetic leg to the jury in the Aurora theater shooting trial. Avila said that he attended the movie that night with his wife and their friends. While the movie was playing, Avila said he saw an object fly across the screen. Avila looked back where the object came from and he saw “flashes of light.” Avila and his wife fell to the ground and he tried to cover her body with his, he said. Avila was shot while he was on the ground. He remembers feeling pressure and feeling hot, but he didn’t move. “If he were to go up the stairs I wanted to pretend I was dead,” he said.
