A Heritage High School student was arrested Tuesday after another student told school officials that the suspect had a firearm in his vehicle.
Officials said the unidentified student was arrested for being in possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds, a felony.
The incident occurred at about 7:20 a.m. After the student told school staff about the weapon, the school resource officer contacted the suspect, determined that he did have a firearm in his vehicle and arrested him.
Officials said at no time was the weapon displayed, nor were any students threatened. The firearm was confiscated, and the suspect was jailed on the felony charge. The school day was not disrupted and classes continued as scheduled.
