LOVELAND — A man was taken into custody after a standoff with two area SWAT teams in north Loveland on Wednesday afternoon.

Larimer County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of menacing at 12:25 p.m. on McKinley Avenue. Once on scene, the deputies learned that Marlin Strom, 49, had threatened a man with a crossbow.

Deputies made contact with Strom, and a struggle ensued. The deputies deployed two Tasers on the man, but these efforts were ineffective. Strom broke free from the officers and ran into his home at 5621 McKinley Ave. He barricaded himself inside, police said.

Sheriff’s deputies and Loveland police were on the scene as the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Fort Collins Police Services SWAT team responded.
