You’ve got two ways to play this year’s Grow Flower Photo Contest: on Twitter, by simply tweeting your photo with the hashtag #dpgarden; and on our Neighbors blog at . But there are two money prizes this year — a $50 gift certificate to the garden center of your choice for the best photo overall and a $25 gift certificate for the People’s Choice winner, which everyone can vote on in the comments field on Facebook. We’ll announce that voting here and online, so stay tuned to and keep reading Grow each Friday. Contest runs through midnight June 14 and you’ve got to respond to e-mail or tweets from us to win your prize. Flowers don’t have to be from your own garden and can be weeds or edible plants, too (but it does help your chances if you can identify the plant).
Garden art, local roots
You shouldn’t have to whisper the words “garden art.” Ann Charlotte Kistner’s clay creations honor the second part of that compound noun and are evocative and beautifully natural. She works in white and red sculpture clay, using a variety of glazing techniques; her works vary in price from $16 to $300 and can be found at Alloy Gallery in Lafayette, Kay Carol and Priscilla Galery in Longmont, and seasonally at Harlequin Gardens. No website yet, but one is under construction. Susan Clotfelter, The Denver Post
