Grand Junction police arrested two men Monday, one of whom was stopped while running across the Grand Junction Regional Airport, claiming that he was being chased and shot at.

The incident occurred at about noon. Eventually, Jamie Sheeks, 28, of Grand Junction, gave police and Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies a description of the possible shooter and a vehicle. A short time later, deputies located Peter Hild, 52, of Denver in an area directly north of the airport.

According to officials, Hild claimed to be an associate of Sheeks, but there was no evidence to indicate that a shooting incident had occurred. Instead, both men were arrested and charged with crimes associated with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Airport officials said there was no interruption of operations during the incident.
