URBAN ART: Block party storms RiNo for a good cause
Saturday. The Thornton-based Stronghold Society, whose supporters include musicians Ben Harper and Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament (a board member), reaches out to American Indian teens through physical activity — frequently, skateboarding. That makes River North’s hip art, clothing and design company MegaFauna and Denver-based culture magazine Truly Rejected ideal partners for May 16’s Skate Deck Art Show & Block Party. The free event includes RiNo neighbors Beryl’s Beer Co., Smirk and RiNo Supply, live music, food trucks and open houses by participating RiNo businesses. Proceeds from the on-site art show and raffle support the Stronghold Society’s One Gathering Skate For Life event (July 18). 2-10 p.m. May 16 on the 3100 block of Blake St. 303-717-9079 or .
