Arapahoe County authorities have identified a 59-year-old man , allegedly by his stepson, Wednesday in Sheridan.

Larry Jacobs was killed at his trailer park home, according to the county coroner’s office, which ruled his death a homicide.

Sheridan police arrested Nicholas Benhmida, 27, in the case at a Denny’s parking lot near Wadsworth Boulevard and U.S. 285. Investigators warned that he was “armed and dangerous” as they searched for Benhmida after he allegedly fled following the slaying.

Benhmida is being held without bond at the county jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. He appeared briefly in court on Thursday morning where a judge sealed arrest documents in the case and a motion to bar pre-trial publicity was filed.

“I just want to know if my mom wanted it,” Benhmida asked a judge during the hearing, .

The fatal shooting was reported at about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday on the 3500 block of South King Street.
