Nederland’sCarousel of Happiness recently opened for its fifth season. Hours of the restored 105-year-old carousel — where rides are always $1 — are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday. “Don’t delay joy!” is the theme of the fifth-birthday celebration the weekend of May 23-24 with games and birthday cake. Veterans and their families ride for free May 25 as part of a Memorial Day commemoration honoring veterans with a special tribute planned at noon.
