A 20-year-old man who apparently set out to climb rocks fell Sunday in Lory State Park, west of Fort Collins, and 32 rescuers responded.
The rescuers were carrying the climber, conscious and stable, out of the park on a litter along a 2.5-hour route Sunday evening, Poudre Valley Fire Authority spokesman Chris Wolf said.
“He had fallen 12 to 15 feet,” Wolf said.
State parks and local fire officials learned of the fall around 3:28 p.m. The man had hiked the Arthur’s Rock trail, Wolf said.
It wasn’t clear how he fell. The area was rough, away from the trail, Wolf said. “They had to lower him and then lift him.”
