Interview with Monica Shank, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: There is a famous quote by Pablo Picasso: “All children are artists. The problem is to remain an artist once he grows up.” I wanted everyone, not just artists, to experience the thrill and therapeutic qualities of creation. The idea for Pablo’s Muse was born.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: Our studio is warm and inviting. People feel at home at the studio; our No. 1 goal is to help you feel comfortable and relaxed so you can enjoy your time with us. We offer a free drink with all our painting classes and an opportunity to tap into your artistic side to make your painting something you can be proud of.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: The magic behind inspiration. The best part of the evening comes when I see someone stare in awe at discovering there inner artist. When a guest who clamed they couldn’t paint transforms a blank, white canvass into a piece of art and the look on there face when they have, it’s priceless.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Our biggest challenge is getting out name out in to the community, letting everyone know that we are open for business and that we would love the opportunity to be their go-to sip and paint studio, their muse.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: God and the song “Fear” by Blue October gave me the courage to stop being afraid of living my dream to open this business. The song has a line in that says “Fear in itself will reel you in and spit you out over and over again, believe in yourself and you will walk.” This is my life’s motto. Don’t be afraid to do anything paint, dream, live, love, ect.
