Truck stop for kids
Families will want to make a pit stop for some high-octane fun on May 30. Kids can climb on and explore more than 20 vehicles for free at “Touch-A-Truck” from 9 a.m. to noon at the Family Sports Center Sports Dome (6959 S. Peoria St. in Centennial.) The Sports Dome parking lot will be filled with all the cars that get little engines revved up, including a fire engine, sheriff’s car, dump truck, ambulance, Zamboni, RTD bus, tractors, utility truck with crane bucket and more. Parents and kids alike can also enjoy demos of how some of the vehicles’ features work. The event runs rain or shine.
Starry nights
Stars fill the sky and the big screen this summer. Infinity Park (4599 E. Tennessee Ave. in Glendale) has set the 2015 schedule for its popular Monday Movie Madness of outdoor free flicks. Gates open at 7 p.m. and movies start at 8 p.m. Here’s the schedule: June 1, “Big Hero 6”; June 15, “Night at the Museum”; June 29, “Despicable Me 2”; July 13, “The Princess Bride”; July 27, “How To Train Your Dragon”; and Aug. 10, “Remember The Titans.” No alcohol or pets allowed. infinityparkat
Sundaes on friday
Get the latest scoop with friends and family at the City Park Ice Cream Social on May 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Denver’s City Park Pavilion. The free family-friendly event celebrates the cultural and historical gem that is City Park. In addition to free ice cream and toppings from Boulder Ice Cream, the Municipal Jazz Band will perform a concert to the Electric Fountain Show. Kids can enjoy face painters, entertainers and games. There will not be food vendors on-site, so if you’re in the mood for something other than ice cream, bring a picnic lunch or grab something from one of the many restaurants surrounding the park.
Hot dog!
Sonic Drive-In is celebrating the end of the school year in a corny way. They’re offering corn dogs for just 50 cents each on May 26. The bargain bite is available all day. With no limit, every family member can dig into a dog (or two) without breaking the budget.
