BOULDER — Boulder police on Friday acknowledged that an officer mistakenly issued a warning last weekend to a local artist who stacks rocks in Boulder Creek, but stressed that such actions are not illegal in the city.
In a post on his Facebook page Tuesday, Michael Grab — a rock-stacking artist who goes by the name Gravity Glue — claimed a police officer threatened to ticket him or arrest him over the Memorial Day weekend for stacking rocks in Boulder Creek.
“So now the police have belligerently taken it upon themselves to write tickets and/or arrest ANYONE balancing rocks in Boulder, CO. and specifically threatened to ticket me and/or arrest me if they catch me in the future,” Grab wrote in his post. “I will go as public as necessary to expose this newfound, police-fueled, shortcoming of the City of Boulder. Worst case scenario, i leave Boulder permanently and take a huge positive vibe with me.”
Grab has not responded to interview requests.
