A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and seriously injured near a bus stop in Denver on Friday morning.

The pedestrian was hit on Alameda Avenue near Dayton Street and taken to a hospital, police said in a tweet. The collision happened at about 6:45 a.m.

The westbound lanes of Alameda have been closed as officials investigate.

“Expect delays in the area,” police said.

the driver apparently also crashed through a bus stop, demolishing it. Images from a television news helicopter showed debris scattered near the roadway.

Police say their investigation into the collision is ongoing.
