Re: “Sticker shock in preview of Obamacare rate hikes,” May 27 Megan McArdle column.
Megan McArdle’s op-ed only covers half of the story about the shortcomings of Obama-care. In a recent Associated Press report, Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., lamented that many who are actually enrolled in Obamacare are effectively “uninsured” because of the high deductibles that came into play as part of the effort to pay for this misguided piece of legislation. As a result, these people are worse off now than they were before Obamacare ever came along. Before Obamacare, they were simply uninsured. Now they actually pay money for the privilege of being that way, and according to McArdle will soon be paying even more.
When considering these realities, along with the realities of government incompetency and corruption involved with the Veterans Affairs hospital in Aurora, those who advocate a single-payer health care system as the next alternative to Obamacare really need to rethink their position.
