Shiny, shiny. A construction foreman on May 22 reported that a storage trailer on a site in the 8900 block of South Quebec Street, Highlands Ranch, had been broken into overnight, and tools worth about $1,500 had been stolen. He guessed the thieves did not work in construction because they took the “shiny” tools and left more valuable items behind.

Not so noble. Two purses vanished from the waiting room of Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, 2350 Meadows Boulevard, Castle Rock, on May 8. Police used surveillance footage to identify the man who took them. He was found at a nearby mall, telling officers he took the purses with plans to “do the right thing” and return them. Cash was missing from both purses and he was written a summons.

No composure. An attorney based in the 100 block of 100 Wilcox Street, Castle Rock, on May 18 reported a man whose ex-wife he had represented repeatedly verbally abused his secretary on the phone. Officers called the suspect, who used profanity and abusive language before apologizing. He was given a warning.

Costly turnover. A woman reported that a large, granite landscaping stone with a Broncos logo painted on it was stolen from her lawn in the 9600 block of Sun Meadow Street, Highlands Ranch, on May 22. She valued it at $500.

Awful scam. A resident of the 12000 block of South Tallkid Court, Parker, on May 21 reported they ordered a shirt online to support a family who said their child died. The shirt never came and the seller never returned calls. The victim said they want the scam to stop.
