Re: “Get tough on distracted driving,” June 3 letter to the editor.
It is gratifying to watch as more and more people realize what an outrageous and preventable offense distracted driving really is. Walk to any intersection in any neighborhood and hang around a stop sign for 15 minutes. Count how many cars roll right through. Of those, make note how many (young?) drivers have their noses in a cellphone while doing so.
How long until we all have had enough? Us “old folks” remember when driving with a cellphone was not a right, nor a privilege, and we got along OK.
When the injured become your family and friends, it tends to put it in the correct perspective.
