Re: John Bowlen tells 911 dispatcher he is ‘the blood of the city,’ June 6 sports story.

John Bowlen Jr. (Arapahoe County Jail)

The apparent domestic violence charges against John Bowlen — son of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and employee of the Broncos — are troubling enough. What is more concerning is that John Bowlen attempted to intimidate the 911 operator by calling himself blood of the city, among other things, and threw out the name of his high-profile attorney in an attempt to prevent the 911 call from going forward.

Bowlen improperly used his high profile, wealthy family name and connections to the Broncos football team to unduly influence and intimidate the legal process up front. That, in and of itself, should suffice to justify his termination from the Broncos and eliminate the possibility of his ever holding a leadership or ownership role with the Broncos.
