Interview with Karen Snell, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: I started making cakes out of my home for family, friends and neighbors. I really enjoyed the creative aspect of decorating, and everyone seemed to love my product. With support from family, I opened my first store in 1977 in Northglenn and it really took off.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: I believe what sets us apart from other bakeries is the quality of our cakes and, especially, our delicious icing. Also, we do custom decorations to suit each customer.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: My favorite aspect of the cake business is the ability to make that perfect design and then see the joy on the customer’s face when they see the final product. It’s a happy business to be in.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Our biggest challenge is keeping up with all the latest trends and decorating techniques.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: Most people are very surprised with our quick turnaround time on specialty designs and even delivery. We also can cater to special dietary needs such as allergies.
