BOULDER — As the days go by, offers are piling up for Fairview footballer Carlo Kemp.
The senior-to-be recently added Notre Dame and Washington State to the list of major schools that would love to have his services.
“We’re picking them up as we go along,” said longtime Knights coach Tom McCartney.
Kemp, All-Colorado by The Denver Post a year ago, has played multiple positions, but may be best suited as a linebacker. His list of offers is bulging. The locals want him — Colorado, Colorado State, Air Force and Wyoming. So do others across the land — Washington, Arizona State, UCLA, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Kansas State and Boise State.
In addition, McCartney said, Northwestern and Penn State are expected to throw their names into Kemp’s recruiting circles. Interestingly, Penn State rarely seems to recruit Colorado, but one of the Nittany Lions’ assistants is Ricky Rahne, a former Bear Creek High School quarterback who also starred at Cornell.
Kemp, McCartney said, “is finishing up spring practice, healthy, a force and gearing up for the season.”
Ideally, Kemp said he would like to take some late visits at the end of the year, then be able to declare and get into college by January in order to be ready academically and athletically.
“We have some Thursday night games during the season, so he should be able to fly out on Friday and catch some big-time games,” McCartney sad.
