Workers at the Denver Botanic Gardens York Street location have spent this week cleaning up storm damage and making repairs.

The resulted in considerable plant damage and a roof replacement, said Erin Bird, the communications manager for the Botanic Gardens. None of the was damaged.

The roof of a large tent near the gardens’ amphitheater was completely shredded and has since been replaced, she said. The antique solarium received damage to plexiglass panels in its ceiling. All repairs were covered by insurance, Bird said, but she declined to give a monetary figure.

But, she added, there was still a cost: “Just time and labor of the poor horticulturalists who tend their plants.”
