Re: “A time before drivers had phones,” June 5 letter to the editor.
I agree with letter-writer Ken Ott, who wrote, “Us ‘old folks’ remember when driving with a cellphone was not a right, nor a privilege, and we got along OK.” But as a serial pessimist I think itap a lost cause. He is singing to a very small choir that gets smaller every day. Cellphones and their annoying ubiquity are not confined to automobiles. Been to a grocery store lately? Been anywhere lately? Constant calling, and the rudeness in it, is so common that it has become the accepted behavior of the much bigger choir.
