On the eve of Missy Franklin’s professional swimming debut, it was announced she signed her first endorsement deal, with Speedo swimwear.

Franklin, who after leading the California Bears to an NCAA championship, will be a year-round brand ambassador for Speedo and will wear its race suits when representing the United States at all major competitions.

“Speedo is a brand I have trusted since I began swimming,” Franklin, 20, said in a release Thursday. “With their support, I know I can reach my goals, and am looking forward to working with them in both the competitive swimming and fitness categories.”

Franklin and Michael Phelps headline the four-day (June 18-21) Arena Pro Swim Series meet in Santa Clara, Calif., the final stop of the 2014-15 Arena Grand Prix Series. Franklin is scheduled to race in five events this weekend: the 50-, 100-, and 200-meter backstroke, and the 100- and 200-meter freestyle.

Franklin, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, returned to Colorado for the summer to train with longtime coach, Todd Schmitz, and the Colorado Stars. After the world championships in Kazan, Russia, in August, she will re-evaluate her training options in preparation for the 2016 Olympics.
