Forecasters are calling for a scorcher in Denver on Friday as a heat wave expected to last into next week continues.
The National Weather Service in Boulder is calling for a high near 94 degrees in the city with sunny skies and light winds.
“It will be a mostly sunny and hot day as an upper level ridge remains over the southwest U.S.,” the weather service said in a forecast bulletin. “The warm temperatures will continue the mountain snowmelt with rivers remaining high.”
Dry and warm weather will remain until mid-week before a better chance of thunderstorms and slightly cooler temperatures, forecasters say.
A high of 88 degrees is expected in Denver on Saturday. On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the weather service is calling for temperatures to top out at 91 degrees.
