Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 90s Tuesday in Denver with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms following a morning of sunny skies.
“Isolated thunderstorms are possible over the Front Range and in areas south of Denver late this afternoon and on the plains this evening,” the National Weather Service in Boulder said in a forecast bulletin.
With a warmer atmosphere and increasing moisture, storms that do develop could become severe, forecasters say.
“Large hail is the main threat, but damaging winds and a tornado are also possible,” the bulletin said. “The main threat is south of a line from Denver to Akron in the early evening hours.”
Snowmelt in the high country is gradually decreasing, but in rivers and streams over the next several days, the weather service said.
WILLOUGHBY:
Into next week, a “fairly typical early summer weather pattern” is expected, forecasters say.
“Temperatures will be around normal as will the chances of afternoon and evening thunderstorms,” according to the bulletin. “Precipitation will be most likely east of the continental divide.”
Forecasters are calling for a high of 88 degrees in Denver on Tuesday.
